Made for Praise! Lesson 1/8 - Hallal
What is praise and worship? Are there different ways to praise the Lord? What’s it for? How do we do it? The following lessons help kids explore what it means to praise the Lord, and the amazing power and results we can get from doing it. Different words in the Bible are translated as “praise,” and each of them describes a different way to praise.
Today’s Hebrew Praise Word: Hallal which means to boast, brag, or rave about God, even to the point of being foolish! King David did this when he danced before the Lord with all his might, even taking off his kingly garments and dancing in his underwear! Check it out in 2 Samuel 6:12-19.
Here’s our teaching video that talks all about this: Made for Praise - Lesson 1 - Hallal
And here’s a video about this Bible Story: David Dances for the Lord; LifeKids
Do you think God was embarrassed when David Hallal-ed before Him? Actually, David was able to bring the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem successfully, he was honoured by His people (2 Sam 6:22), and God gave him rest from all his enemies (2 Sam 7:1)! That’s a lot of results!
And that brings us to our praise motto this week: When I praise the Lord, God is pleased!
