Faith Works! The Miracles of Jesus - Lesson 1
Lesson One: Faith Is a Gift
Hey Parents! What is faith? Faith is believing what God says is true, and being sure that He will do His Word, or bring it to pass. Jesus said if we believe, we can do the same works He did, and even greater works! John 14:12 This promise is for everyone, no matter your age. To learn more about faith, we are looking at Jesus’ miracles to see how He used His faith, so we can do the same.
For this lesson series (6 weeks), I have prepared a poster for you to print off for your kids. Please print one off for each of your children. They can colour and decorate it and put it up on a wall somewhere to add to each week.
Each week, there will be a new tool they can cut out and paste on their poster. This tool will be on their activity sheet. Here are this week’s activity sheets:
Faith Is a Gift – Preschool Page
Faith Is a Gift – Elementary Page
You will also find a lesson outline for you that’s all ready for you to do with your kids.
Faith Is a Gift – Lesson Outline
There are 4 short and basic parts to the lesson:
1) Today’s Lesson – This is the outline of what story and what “tool” is part of the lesson, and how they fit together. You can watch me in this video go through the lesson here:
2) Today’s Faith Tool – These are easy objects to find around your house. It’s a great idea to have one on hand for your kids to handle as you talk about it. Today, you’ll need a bow that you would put on a present.
3) Today’s Story – This week, we’re looking at Jesus’ first miracle: turning water into wine. You can read this story with your kids from a Bible in John 2:1-11. Or you can watch this video. A summary of the story is on the lesson sheet along with some key points you can discuss.
Check out this video from Saddleback Kids! Jesus Turns Water into Wine
4) Memory Verse – It’s so valuable to teach your kids the Word of God! Things they learn and memorize in their childhood they will remember later when they most need it! Included with the verse is a fun way to memorize it. The main point is to make it a fun and enjoyable activity. This week’s verse: Romans 12:3
Incorporate a prayer into some part of your lesson. Here is a simple one you can use…
Dear Father,
Thank You for giving me Your gift of faith! I receive it now, in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, help me to obey what Jesus tells me. I want to do miracles, just like You did. Thank You!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Be blessed as you and your children discover His truth! And remember you are making a difference in the lives of God’s children today. If you have any questions or would like some further lesson supports, please contact me at hello@gatewayvictory.com
