Holy Spirit Super Powers - Lesson 7/8 - Special Tongues and Interpretation
Hello! The Holy Spirit has gifts He wants to give to us that are just like having super powers in the spirit. This series of lessons takes a deeper look at the gifts and work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers today, including believing children’s lives!
This lesson continues to look at the Speaking Gifts of the Holy Spirit where God moves through individuals to deliver His messages. Special Tongues is where someone under the power of the Holy Spirit delivers a message in a different language. Interpretation of Tongues is where that same someone, or someone else, interprets the message of Special Tongues. Often, a message in Special Tongues declares the wonders and mysteries of God, and is a sign, especially for unbelievers!
(Note: Special Tongues is meant to be a message for others, and should always be interpreted. This is different than speaking in tongues, a gift meant for every believer, that is a personal prayer language for prayer and edification.)
Here’s a lesson outline that you can use to share this truth with your child(ren).

2) A Bible story that shows the gift of special tongues is in Acts 19 when Paul met a group of believers in Ephesus. He asked them if they had received the Holy Spirit, but they had never heard of the Holy Spirit. Paul laid hands on them and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. (Special tongues is a message intended for someone else or a group of people. It is different than speaking in tongues as a personal prayer language, as it is for others, and meant to be interpreted.) Note: This story is covered in the beginning of the linked video.

3) A Bible story that shows interpretation of tongues is from the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2). After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples gathered in the Upper Room, waiting to receive power like Jesus commanded them. On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit filled the believers who spoke in tongues, and then went out into the streets, speaking in tongues the whole time. The crowds in Jerusalem were amazed as everyone heard them speak in their own language. The Holy Spirit interpreted their tongues!
